WHAT IS ISAAC?· ISAAC stands for International Society for Augmentative and Alternative Communication. · ISAAC is a big international organisation that focuses on AAC. · ISAAC was formed in 1983. · ISAAC has over 3,700 members. · ISAAC members live in more than 50 countries around the world.

There are ISAAC Chapters in Australia,
Canada, Denmark, Finland, French-speaking Countries, German-speaking
Countries, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Netherlands-Flanders, Norway, Sweden,
United Kingdom and United States of America.
WHAT IS AUGMENTATIVE AND ALTERNATIVE COMMUNICATION (AAC)? AAC is any
communication system that supports people who have a severe
communication impairment. AAC will be recognised, valued and used throughout the world.
ISAAC’S MISSIONTo promote the best possible communication for people with complex communication needs.
WHAT DOES ISAAC DO?· ISAAC advocates for augmented communicators and their families. · ISAAC supports the use of AAC around the world. This includes countries that do not know about AAC. · ISAAC has an exciting awards and scholarship program for members. · ISAAC encourages the development of AAC products and services. · ISAAC produces a series of practical books for people involved in AAC. · ISAAC has an international conference every two years.

ISAAC sponsors a peer-reviewed scientific
journal – Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).
Peer-reviewed means that each article is anonymously reviewed by three
people who are experts to see if it is suitable for publication. Visit
