What is AAC for me? Raz Tenenbaum & Tommy Berchenko Recent research in the eld of AAC proposes new conceptual frameworks, such as the Transactional Model (Dias & Mineiro, 2020), which views AAC communication as a collaborative, dynamic process that involves mutual responsibility among all participants. Within this view, communication is understood as continuous, interdependent, and shaped by multiple environmental factors. This article presents ndings from a workshop held at the ISAAC Israel Summer Conference, designed to explore diverse perspectives of AAC users and their communication partners in light of the theoretical models introduced at the beginning of the session. Results from a pilot questionnaire administered in advance for the workshop indicate that AAC is perceived as a fundamental human right and need, and as a vital tool for promoting learning and development. These perspectives, shared by AAC stakeholders active in ISAAC-Israel, underscore the centrality of AAC as an essential means of human communication and recognize AAC users as equal and active communication partners. When Colors Speak – Experiences from a Creative AAC Workshop Adi Ne'eman The article describes a watercolor painting workshop conducted at the ISAAC 2025 Conference. The workshop integrated artistic expression with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) tools, creating a space for nonverbal expression and connection. Participants experienced communication through AAC from the perspective of its users, allowing them to gain a deeper understanding of their own children or clients. They reported a sense of relief from verbal demands, renewed emotional connection with AAC users, and the formation of meaningful human relationships in unexpected ways — illustrating that creativity is indeed a universal language.
